Writing for the Screen and the Stage

This course looks behind the scenes at the formatting and composition of stage and screenplays. We will focus on developing narrative, character, and dialogue, and at the end of the course we will go over avenues scriptwriters might explore for producing their work or collaborating on a project.

Topics Covered:

  • Be able to correctly format a screen play and a stage play                                                         
  • Provide concise and comprehensive feedback on peers’ work                                                     
  • Demonstrate the ability to create fully developed characters and authentic dialogue
  • Have effectively employed a narrative plot structure to an original story line              
  • Have completed a 6-10 page script, along with a summary or a pitch
