Medicinal Forest Walk

Facilitator: Lindsay Hounslow

Walk in the woods with an herbal practitioner and learn about local medicinal plants. We will identify and discuss trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants, and discuss their traditional and modern uses in clinical herbology. In addition, we will engage in sensory and meditative observation of plants as another means of learning.

Topics Covered:

  • Identify local medicinal trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants
  • Learn uses of common plants in our bio region (focusing on medicinal uses, but some technological and food uses will be included)
  • Understand how plants are prepared for various medicinal uses
  • Understand safety issues related to medicinal plants
  • Understanding the importance of respecting plant medicines and their ecological roles as applied to wild harvesting
  • Experience meditative connection with plants as a means of observation
  • Experience sensory observation of plants to observe their energetic patterns
