Intercultural Foundations for Education (IFE)

Intercultural Foundations for Education (IFE) is a 4-week online course focused on developing intercultural teaching and learning competencies. You will have opportunities to review the foundational research and apply key concepts to your teaching practice. You will also have access to interdisciplinary collegial dialogue, instructional resources, and learning activities on culturally responsive teaching methods that can enhance your current practice. This workshop is designed for RRU core faculty and associate faculty who are interested in developing their knowledge and skills in facilitating intercultural learning.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define key intercultural learning terms
  • Review the foundational intercultural learning research
  • Apply intercultural teaching competencies to common teaching challenges in diverse learning communities
  • Design a lesson plan that can support intercultural learning in your teaching context

Time requirement: Participants should expect to spend 2-3 hours per week on course activities during each of the four weeks. Continuous, active participation is necessary to make this course successful for everyone.
