"We cannot know where we are going if we do not know where we have come from." Roy C. Owens
As the popularization of mindfulness continues in various contexts in both our personal and professional lives it is helpful to know the history of these practices and how they have sprouted up in the West over the last 50 years. By knowing where these practices come from we can acknowledge and honour traditions that have come before. This honouring helps one to avoid adding to the “McMindfulness” in the West today.
- Explore the history of mindfulness from various traditions including Buddhism
- Explore the spread of mindfulness in the west and its current applications in mental health care, medical settings, educational and business settings
