Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Introductory Workshop

The capacity to analyze conflicts, to negotiate and to provide mediating functions to defuse potentially explosive situations are all real needs emanating from today's conflicts. The Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding workshop is a vehicle through which such capacity is developed. The Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding workshop is a two-day introductory workshop focusing on the theory, models, and skills applicable to conflict prevention and peacebuilding in a domestic or international context.

The course is designed to provide participants with opportunities to build bridges between theory and practice. Conflict analysis, negotiation, and mediation are central to the program. The course encompasses a wide range of materials in a highly interactive learning environment.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this program, participants will:

  • Appreciate the range of theories relating to peacebuilding and have applied some of the tools for analyzing conflicts
  • Have interest-based negotiation and mediation skills
  • Have improved communication, questioning, analytical and problem solving skills in resolving conflict
